First grade students have been studying Light and Sound! Along with making lava lamps, they have also made model eyeballs with filters to observe how we see in the dark. This week, they examined glow sticks to determine what reaction will make a glow stick glow brighter, and how phosphors radiate energy as light. What "bright", young students we have!

Mrs. Gilmore's Physics I class had a "sweet" lab today! The students used Skittles to simulate carbon-14 dating, or half-life in nuclear physics. Chalk markers were used on the lab stations to create tables and graphs while reducing paper use. Great job scientists!

Congratulations to Mollie Scher, Gabriel Parada, and Will Chenevert who were selected for the South Central All District Honor Choir! Their selection was based on a competitive audition where they were required to perform a prepared song, sight read, sing a scale, and identify key signatures. There were approximately 800 students from across South Central Missouri who auditioned for this honor! They will perform in the All District Choir concert on Saturday, November 5th at 4 PM at Evangel University Chapel. Will Chenevert ranked in the top 25 of auditionees and now has qualified to audition for the Missouri All State Choir! Great job students!

Greenwood lost a great philanthropist, friend, and supporter this week. Our hearts are heavy to learn of the passing of Bobby Allison. We send our condolences to the families grieving his loss. Greenwood has been blessed with support from Bobby Allison. He always asked what we needed and how he could “help the kids.” He was always looking to enrich the lives of all students and he cared about making every single aspect of life better. Everything he took part in, he did in honor of his mother and her dedication to kids. His legacy, and hers, will live on in the Greenwood community for years to come and we are so grateful for the generosity, kindness, and love he bought to Greenwood to make it the best place for kids to learn and grow. Thank you, Bobby. Thank you for believing in our mission and supporting our Greenwood families. You are missed.
