This week, Ms. Grace's 4th grade art class has been learning about the different values that can be created using black and white paint. The 6th grade class has been working with analogous colors on the color wheel. Great job artists!

Second graders brought some furry friends to read with on Comfy Day! I wonder what their favorite book was?

Kindergarten has been getting creative in art class while learning about color and pattern!

Don't Let the Kindergartners Drive the Bus! Kindergarten has been studying the author, Mo Willems, and are learning to use some of his techniques in their own writing!

Third graders did some compare and contrast writing this week with Oreo cookies and Ritz crackers! Using their five senses, students wrote paragraphs on the similarities and differences between the two foods.

First grade students have been studying Light and Sound! Along with making lava lamps, they have also made model eyeballs with filters to observe how we see in the dark. This week, they examined glow sticks to determine what reaction will make a glow stick glow brighter, and how phosphors radiate energy as light. What "bright", young students we have!

Mr. Pfeil's history classes had the opportunity to virtually attend some educational conferences! The 8th graders attended Educating for Active Citizenship in Divisive Times and 11th grade sat in on the plenary session for Designing Justice: Innovation and Collaboration for Social Change.

Mrs. Gilmore's Physics I class had a "sweet" lab today! The students used Skittles to simulate carbon-14 dating, or half-life in nuclear physics. Chalk markers were used on the lab stations to create tables and graphs while reducing paper use. Great job scientists!

Congratulations to Mollie Scher, Gabriel Parada, and Will Chenevert who were selected for the South Central All District Honor Choir! Their selection was based on a competitive audition where they were required to perform a prepared song, sight read, sing a scale, and identify key signatures. There were approximately 800 students from across South Central Missouri who auditioned for this honor! They will perform in the All District Choir concert on Saturday, November 5th at 4 PM at Evangel University Chapel. Will Chenevert ranked in the top 25 of auditionees and now has qualified to audition for the Missouri All State Choir! Great job students!

Fifth graders began an opinion writing unit using the OREO method (Opinions, Reasons, Examples, and restate Opinions). Their official opinion is that Mint Oreos are the best, second place was Lemon Oreos, and a three way tie for third: Neapolitan, Pumpkin Spice and Toffee! Who knew opinion writing could be so much fun!

Mrs. Flanders' 2nd grade was a little "corny" as they had a “sweet” review for their first math test!

2nd grader Cora Shaw was the author and illustrator of her very own book, The Book of Feelings! She shared her creation with Elementary Counselor Mrs. McCann and read aloud to the 1st graders. Great job Cora!

Dr. Hammerschmidt's 1st grade learned about chemical reactions by making their very own lava lamps!
